<br />Students spend 2 evenings a week of preparation,
<br />planning and learning in the classroom followed by a
<br />9 day backpack adventure into Wyoming's Big Horn
<br />Mountains. Instruction is given in camping, food
<br />preJ:taration and cooking, hiking, use of map and
<br />compass and survival skills. Students also gain srn
<br />derstanding of personal values grid group coopera-
<br />in. Personal growth is a major goal of the trip.
<br />11 ood costs -and equipment fees are not included.
<br />Estimation of these costs will be around $35.00.

<br />SCENIC RIVER ADVENTURE Grades 5-8
<br />Mounds View High School _'
<br />A unique outdoor learning experience in a fwi and
<br />exciting setting.' Activities include canoeing, camp-
<br />ing, fishing, swimming, outdoor cooking and games.
<br />We will be taking several adventurous field trips,
<br />including Wild Mountain's Alpine Slide. The high-
<br />light will be 3 days (2 overnights) spent canoeing,
<br />camping and exploring the beautiful lower St. Croix
<br />River. Choose one of the two sessions offered. The
<br />fee includes all supplies, equipment, transportation
<br />and admissions needed (except sleeping bag and per-
<br />sonal items). This course is designed for the novice
<br />and experienced alike and would be a rewarding
<br />experience for either. Fee: $96.00.

<br />ly'T. WILllERNESS TENT CAMPING Grades 4-7
<br />Mounds View High School
<br />Students will learn primitive camping techniques on a
<br />beautiful setting in Wisconsin's North Woods.Children
<br />will learn how to set up and break camp, cook out-
<br />doors, live in tents and. take care of themselves.
<br />Activities will include backpacking, an overnight
<br />canoe trip, horseback riding, orienteering and a horse
<br />drawn wagon trip. This seven day experience is
<br />especially designed for the intermediate age child.

<br />Mounds View High School
<br />Students will spend five days at Mounds View North
<br />in the .Superior State Forest on Lake Arrowhead
<br />where they will continue their outdoor adventure
<br />in select educational activities including: fishing,
<br />swimming, canoeing, camping, art and. writing pro-
<br />jects, compass exploration, nature awareness, self-
<br />reflection, group relations and rope climbing. Stu-
<br />dents will spend two days meeting at Mounds View
<br />High School where they will gain basic knowledge in:
<br />swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, water safety,
<br />campink skills, archery, bike hiking and trip planning.
<br />Fee: $125.00.

<br />Fun in the sun collecting insects, studying mammals,
<br />reptiles and banding birds. Make and launch your
<br />own rockets and boomerangs and set up a mini-
<br />weather statiai. Travel with us on field trips to dig
<br />fossils, ride the Paddleford up the Mississippi, visit
<br />the new coo, the Omni 'T'heater and Science MuseuYn.
<br />Explore plant and .animal communities in this out-
<br />door funfest. I+'ee: $55.00.

<br />VOYAGEUR TRAILS Grades 8-12
<br />Mounds View High School
<br />Travel the paths of the French-Canadian Voyageurs
<br />and explore 120 miles of the Namekagon and St.
<br />.Croix Rivers. Experience seven days of wilderness
<br />canoe camping and witness an abw~dance of wildlife
<br />including bald eagle, osprey and deer. Two class
<br />sessions preceding the trip will be spent on packing,
<br />map reading, menu and meal preparation and canoe-
<br />ing techniques. The students must provide a Coast
<br />Guard approved life vest, appropriate camping gear
<br />and food for a seven day wilderness experience.Canoe
<br />rental is available. Fee: $140.00.
