WEIGHT TRAINING AND CONDITIONING Mounds View & lrondale High Schools Grades 9-12 't'his course will deal with 5 basic areas: ,stretching and flexibility, running and conditioning, weight training, recreational games and goal settings. Class will meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only. Fee: $33.00. WINGS AND WHEELIES Grades 4-7 Send. a balloon into the upper limits of the atmos- phere, soar a glider through the tumultuous air cur- rents, blast a rocket out of sight of the human eye, design and build a miniature air driven car and. work small engines. The-flight course involves the study of the balloon from early beginning through. the space age. Small engines and an introduction to the auto- mobile engine will complete this class. Advanced instruction is available for those who wish to repeat the class. Fee; $55.00. WOOD AND METAL ARTS Grades 5-8 ~, The development of basic skills in woodworking and metal tooling is the objective of this course. Projects in wood, copper and aluminum are designed to range from the simple, such as cut-out figures, to the more complex, such gas birdhouses and planters. JUNIOR HIGH MATH ]MAKE-UP Grades 7-9 'T'his is a class for students who need to strengthen math skills or prepare for the next year's materials. We will work on each student's areas of weakness through games and activities as well as drills. Areas of study will include decimals, fractions and whole numbers. No fee. SECONDARY MAKE-UP SOCIAL STUDIES Grades 7-12 1/2 Credit ................... ..Grades 10-12 Phis course will include exposure to social ideas, concepts and experiences in a generally non-tradi- tional manner. Students will be encouraged to become a part of the action directly; in large and small groups, as well as individually. Various re- ~urc:es will be utilized including books, films, TV and newspapers. Time may be arranged to make-up one quarter, one half or one full credit in Social Studies. No fee. Grades 10-12 Phis is a course allowing students to work with mater- ials to improve vocabulary, spelling, grammar, reading (cornprehension, speed and appreciation) and writing (technical, expository and poetic). Students are placed into programs according to their needs. Time may be arranged to make-up one quarter, one. half or one full credit in English. No fee. i SECONDARY MAKE-UP SCIENCE Grades 7-12 1/2 Credit .......................Grades 10-12 Individualized science instruction will use. learning packages as the primary media of instruction. In- struction and materials will be available in Biological, Earth and Physical Science depending upon the make-up needs of the student. SECONDARY MAKE-UP PHYSICAL EDUCATION Grades 7-12 1/2 Credit .......................Grades 10-12 'Phis course will consist primarily of outdoor activi- ties, both individual and team sports. The emphasis will be on developing skills in tennis, golf, track and field, soccer, .touch football and other activities.
