i t <br />t <br />PROPOSED RECREATION PROGRAM CRITERIA <br />FOR NEW BRIGHTON PARKS AND RECREATION <br />1. Program would meet the leisure time needs of a-group of resi- <br />dents whose needs have not satisfactorily been met and may not <br />be met by another agency (private or .public), alone. <br />2. Program compliments present program offering and can help pro- <br />vide a comprehensive recreation program for New Brighton resi- <br />dents by serving youth to seniox citizens with varying athletic <br />and cultural interests. <br />3. Program is consistent with and promotes continual development <br />of the positive social values. <br />4. Program. is a voluntarily chosen activity which residents can <br />participate in during their leisure time. <br />5. Program helps develop interest which may persist many years <br />for the individual. <br />6. Program has potential to give participants immediate and/or <br />continual personal reward. <br />7. Program provides opportunities for participants to acheive <br />personal growth by acquiring different skills and/or facing <br />new challenges. <br />8. Program structure protects the safety and welfare of individuals <br />involved. <br />9. Program costs are such that it can be self-supporting and yet <br />affordable to residents. <br />10. Program can adapt to changing circumstances in facilities or <br />in community needs. <br />?_l. Program is recognizable as a recreation activity rather than <br />an activity associated with another facet of life. <br />12/81 <br />
