May 5, 1982 Park Board Minutes <br />Page 6 <br />Anderson said the date has to be to the New Brighton Bulletin <br />for publication on Monday.. <br />Anderson said he would recommend the date of June 2nd. <br />Dahl said it could also be scheduled at their regular <br />June meeting. <br />Gunderman said the Park Board needs to send whatever is appro- <br />priate to Jim Lang regarding h.is letter to the editor in the <br />New Brighton Bulletin. <br />Gunderman said he would also like to thank Laura Solberg for <br />offering her public speaking seminar. Eight people, including <br />Council members are signed up for either the 14:th or 28th. <br />Gunderman asked-what happened with the hockey arenasa <br />Anderson said Tony Crea said the rink can't be sold to the <br />hockey association and Ramsey County is not interested in <br />leasing .them. <br />Anderson gave an update on the EIS. The City has decided to <br />challenge the Long Lake Improvement Association on the EIS. <br />The meeting is on Tuesday, May 11th.: The next meeting would <br />be on May 2 Oth with the ful l E . Q . Board . Lf it goes - a .con:=`- ~:' - `. ~ -. <br />tested hearing, it will be on the 2nd of June. If the EIS <br />is ordered, the results won't 'be known until October and could <br />cost between $5,000 and .$15,000. If an EIS is needed, it will <br />take about one year to complete the entire process. All the <br />EIS does is provide additional information. It doesn't force <br />any changes. The caanges that might be made would be negligible- <br />would hardly be noticed. <br />Gunderman asked when the $750,.000 is obtained. <br />Anderson sai d: in August hopefully. <br />Grimshaw asked if the development would have to cease if an <br />EIS was necessary. <br />Anderson responded yesR <br />Anderson said the city should find out quickly.
