April 7, 1982 Park Board Minutes Page.3
second-kind is called a contested hearing. Very much like a
trial. Same Board makes the decision.. It is about a six
month process. The Long Lake Improvement Association has
probably requested the contested hearing. They have a right
to demand this. It appears there may be a: problem with their
petition. They submitted the old petition that went to the
City Council a year ago. Tf it is illegal, they-might not
be able to get a new petition. There is no way 'a person
who signed the petition would know that it would be submitted
to the Environmental Quality Board. City Council would still
like to have the informational hearing.
Van Hatten asked if this would delay the park process,
Anderson said no.
Date fo.r the Environmental Quality Board Staff Hearing may
change..
Gunderman asked if Met Council has given the green light.
Anderson said yes, staff is thorough.
Anderson said the City will now be asking the County
to look at the termination part of .the plan but before the
City acts on it, it will come back. No motion is needed,
it is just for your'information.
Anderson said he .will be meeting with Gayle Bromander to
discuss the potential for access to a museum.-
Gunderman said it .sounds like clot of up-front money is needed
for a museum. Want to see the plan - not convinced a massive
building can be put on that site.
Anderson mentioned that. Saturday, April 24th is a community
tree planting-day at Hansen Park. Have. about 100-150 trees..
The City Council and Park Board are invited.
Ken Johnson said the 4-H is interested in planting seedlings
wherever we want them.
Gunderman asked if any churches need trees. Our .:parks are
in pretty good shape as far as trees.
Anderson said we have planted 5,000 seedlings and approximately
10 survived.
Gunderman asked if there is any place that they could plant
and we could .transplant later?
Anderson said no.
Van Hatten asked the status of the puppet Wagon.
