SPECIAL PARK-BOARD MEETING <br />MONDAY, MARCH 15, 1982 <br />Roll Call: All members present. Bob Nethercut and Charlie Smith <br />from Met Council were present and Ken Simons from <br />Ramsey .County. <br />Minutes of March 3rd Park Board meeting will be approved at the <br />April meeting. <br />Gunderman stated the Park Board had received a copy of a letter sub- <br />mitted by_Donald Herbert. <br />Motion by Carlson, seconded by Dahl, to .receive the letter from <br />Donald Herbert. Motion passed. <br />Anderson distributed memos to all present .regarding financial options. <br />He presented an overview of the memo, explaining the three options <br />contained in the memo. Option #1 related to regional development. <br />Would total $2,500,000. City will pick .up .portion of operation and <br />maintenance, Ramsey County will pick up other portion. Option #2 <br />shows financial costs of development as a city park. .Development <br />would be about half of the regional park. It would be a scaled down <br />plan. Police and fire would be the same. Option #3 is again a city <br />.park, scaled down. It is much the same as Option #2. <br />Anderson. also gave a comparison between Hansen Park and Long Lake <br />There has been concern that in the-CIP program too much will be spent <br />in development money. Ken Simons and .Anderson. met to revise the 1982 <br />CIP plan. It has not been approved but feel Met Council would approve. <br />Park could be usable in 1983., Conclusion is regional development ad- <br />vantages outweigh city park a <br />Gunderman .opened discussion up for community input. <br />Jerry Bensing <br />1861 15th Ave.. N.W. <br />Speaking on the purpose of New Brighton Historical Society regarding <br />rhubarb. Would like to obtain a patch. Intend to keep a patch <br />available for. groups. Have one untouched patch .and one for public <br />use. Bensing read the letter from the Historical Society. <br />Motion by Olson, seconded by Solberg, to accept the letter from the <br />Historical Society regarding the rhubarb. Motion passed. <br />Bensing read another letter to the Park Board regarding Stockyard <br />Days. Want an area for. this celebration; either on the Long-Lake <br />_~site or Rush Lake site. <br />Motion by Van Hatton, seconded by Olson, to accept letter relating <br />to Stockyard Days. Motion passed. <br />
