March 1, 1982
Mayor of Pdew Brighton
New Brighton Council Members
New Brighton Park Board Members
New Brighton City Engineer
Dear Distinguished Public Servants:
For the record, and as a concerned citizen of the City of New Brighton,
and representing the concerns of many other people who live on Long Lake,
I feel it is my duty and obligation to impress upon you the dangerous
aspects of the current Plaster Plan for the Long Lake Park, as put together
by Ramsey County, T~:ith input from almost all of you,
Adding access for five (5) high speed power boats and thirty (30) other
fishing boats, sail boats and canoes, is an action that will possibly
end up with someone being killed or maimed.
The way things will exist this coming summer, the lake will already be
at full boat capacity, due to the influx of homes having been built on
the lake over-the past five years, and also due to more homes having
lake access (because of the recent dredging of the northeast channel),
And, with this in mind, you still want to do away with the existing
regulation of not allowing trailered-in boats during the swimming season?
Your p1~an ~ai_11 put twenty additional trailered-in boats on .the lake, as
well as fifteen carried-in .boats; and then, you want to add insult to
possible injury by putting in a 22 times larger sT.aimming area, with 1200
s~~~immers .
I,et it be on each of your conscience if you allow this to happen and it
results in a death or a serious injury.
Since ly,
Ro er`~T , Wilson
g
1698 1~~th Avenue N.W.
New Brighton, MN 55112
RTW~tlw
