NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />I. Meeting was called to order. by. vice-chairperson Dahl at 7.:40 p.m. <br />II. Members present: Carlson, Dahl, Grirnshaw, Hogan, Johnson, Olson <br />.Solberg, Van Hatten, Council Rep. Schmidt -~ <br />Gunderman.arrived at .,7:45 p.m. <br />III. Minutes of January 6, 1982 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council. Report <br />Schmidt informed the Park Board of .the major action .items. at <br />the last Council meeting. Items included: appointments for <br />commissions and .boards, approval. of addendum to joint forester <br />position, approval of recreation criteria, approval of extended <br />Oasis program, Benke will serve on Oasis .Advisory Council, <br />Council meeting changed to February 25, 7:30 because of caucus. <br />B. Long Lake Park Study .Committee-Report <br />Dahl stated the committee met on January 12th to discuss the <br />draft. Most of the concern related to maintenance, revisions, <br />etc. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Long Lake. Lease Proposal (.Bill Jacobs) <br />Bi11 Jacobs presented a summary of the analysis he prepared <br />on alternatives to the Long Lake Park being developed with. <br />Ramsey County. - <br />Dahl explained that Bill Jacobs was at the Study Committee <br />meeting. Ken Simons said the city may get. more money back for <br />the land than was spent, possibly up to one million dollars. <br />Jacobs said if the city-Lets the money sit in reserve it will <br />earn money. The. city should start making their assets work <br />for them.. Donut just. get-money back from the County. The <br />City can do better than that. Would suggest the Park Board <br />and the Council hire someone to study this further.. <br />Dahl asked Jacobs if he had approached anyone at the County. <br />Jacobs responded no, but added he would be happy to make a <br />strong argument at a luncheon .meeting. <br />Van Hatten asked where the one million dollars being talked <br />about came from. <br />Jacobs responded from the Metropolitan Council! <br />
