Discuss Comprehensive Plan for Recreation Programming <br />Anderson stated he is chairing-the committee of Community Edu- <br />cation Advisory Council. The committee is studying replacement <br />of co-curricular activities being dropped by the school district.. <br />Concerned. there will be a negative effect on the city. The task <br />force is telling the school board that. we donut have replacements <br />yet but if they wantwe can get back to them and tell them what <br />we have. The cities and school district are also looking at cuts. <br />Have talked to three communities on developing a plan for the <br />delivery of leisure-time activities and the. response has been <br />positive. <br />Would like. to have this done in-house around the lst of June. <br />As far as he knows it hasn`t been done in Minnesota. <br />Gunderman expressed opposition to the scope of the .plan. Feels <br />the plan should be done with .New Brighton only. <br />Van Hatten asked if an intern. will be used. <br />Anderson responded yes. <br />Van Hatten asked if there is a fee for this person. <br />Anderson said no, doing it for credit. Prefer to have someone <br />working on masters degree. Want someone to talk to the. people - <br />have alot of resources. <br />Van Hatten asked if the Scout groups would be involved.. <br />Anderson said he hadn't considered it but it's a good idea. <br />He asked for. other suggestions. <br />Motion by Dahl, seconded by Solberg, to approve the concept of <br />comprehensive plan for delivery of leisure time services. <br />Motion passed, Gunderman opposed..- <br />E~ Joint Powers Agreement with Mounds View for Puppet Wagon <br />Anderson said New Brighton would like to share Mounds View <br />puppetry operation. .Mounds View will hire staff. They will <br />administer the program, New_Brighton would have 12 shows per <br />week for l0 .weeks.. Anderson said this is as good or better <br />than we could develop, <br />Johnson-asked how many .hours per week puppet staff will work. <br />Anderson said 40 hours... <br />Motion by Van Hatten, seconded by Hogan, to approve the Puppet <br />Wagon Joint Powers Agreement with Mounds View. Motion passed. <br />
