NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />DECEMBER 7, 1983 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Gunderman. <br />II. Members present were: Carlson, Dahl, Grimshaw, Gunderman, Hogan, <br />Olson, Solberg, <br />Others present: Ken Simons, Ramsey County Architect; John Kelley, <br />Police Chief.; LeAnn Linder, Wellness .Consultant; <br />Joann Knuth, Long Lake Advisory Committee; John <br />Schultz, Long Lake Advisory Committee, Pam Schmitz, <br />Program Supervisor, Jim Skiba, Park Superintendent. <br />III. Minutes <br />Minutes of the November 2, 1983 meeting were approved as submitted.. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Blomquist reported that the Council approved the purchase of <br />picnic equipment for Meadow Wood and Hansen Park. The City <br />will be selling some land south of County Road E2. Ed Ross <br />is proposed as Board Manager for. the Rice Creek Watershed <br />District. The Golf Course clubhou~ addition was approved..- <br />A study on space needs at City Hall is being done. .Remodeling <br />is a possibility.. Cable television negotiating is taking <br />place now. There will be a delay in when it will actually <br />be available. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />No discussion <br />V. New Business <br />A. Long Lake Park Use Ordinance <br />Anderson stated that at the last Park Board meeting the Park <br />Board had requested a joint meeting with the Long Lake Advisory. <br />Committee and Ramsey County to discuss park hours, skiing, etc. <br />If the Board feels there need to be changes, now is the time <br />to take action. <br />John Kelley, New Brighton Pol-ice Chief, expressed concern <br />with who will be doing the patrolling of the park .regarding <br />snowmobiles, etc. <br />Ken Simons, Ramsey .County, stated the County is relinquishing <br />the policing to the City according to the ordinance.. As far <br />as snowmobiling, the County has jurisdiction. Snowmobilers <br />must have an access to the lake surface.- If there is an access <br />point, the Long Lake Park can be added to the Ramsey County <br />list of parks in-the ordinance. <br />
