NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />~' ~ NOVEMBER 2, 1983 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Gunderman. <br />II. Members present.:. Carlson, Dahl, Grimshaw, Gunderman,. Hogan,. <br />Olson, Van Hatten, Council Rep. Blomquist <br />Members. absent:: Johnson,Solberg <br />Others present: Jim Skiba, Park Superintendent, Hank Sinda, <br />City Manager <br />III. Minutes: of September 28, 1983 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Council Representative Blomquist stated the Council received <br />Basic Industries donation and approved it for purchase of a <br />pitching machine. Approvals were made in regard to the Stoney <br />Lake office project. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />Dahl was absent from the last meeting. Anderson stated they <br />had gone over the park use ordinance. Ramsey County will <br />govern the park. No November meeting is planned. <br />Gunderman. asked if the park closing at sundown will be in <br />effect for Long Lake Park. Anderson said yes. .Gunderman <br />felt it important to change it - he felt sundown was too <br />early for a park to close and not consistent with New Brighton <br />parks. Anderson said he would formally ask Ramsey County to <br />make that change. <br />Gunderman welcomed Jim Skiba and the new City Manager to <br />the Park Board Meeting. Introductions were made. <br />Gunderman encouraged the Park Board to get out and vote. <br />C. Activity Report <br />Anderson stated the activity report gave comparisons, numbers, <br />trends for both youth and adult activities. <br />Gunderman asked which programs were winners. <br />Anderson said the adult-sports and exercise programs mostly women <br />and trips (Adult and Senior. <br />Gunderman asked the problem areas. <br />Anderson said softball is time consuming and .short on facilities. <br />Gunderman asked if lighted fields would help. <br />Anderson said yes. <br />
