RESULTS AND BENEFITS: YEAR-ROUND USE OF PARR
Once in .place, the Gamefield not only experienced constant use by runners as
well as participants in all the other sports, as was expected, but it al$o be-
came a part of physical education classes of two nearby schools during the
entire academic year.
•i~l6at surprised and thrilled =e,• said Park Director Craig Price, •is that
of all our facilities, the Gaaefield is tha one that's used tear-round
-- eoen in t~e dead of ~rinteri•
* * * a
VILLl-G8 OF SODTH HOLLl-ND, ILLINOIS
HISTORY
.-.~~~
In-early 1982, South Holland became one of the Midwest's first communities to
launch a Gamefield. Superintendent Paul Pearson initiated extensive comparative
analysis to justify this capital expenditure.
RESULTS AND .BENEFITS: CONGRATULATIONS FROM COMMUNITY ADULTS
Familiarity breeds success. Where there was one Gamefield, now there are two.
When adults in the community flocked to South Holland's first Jogging Course,
Paul, without hesitation, applied for a second. His Course's popularity proved
the success of an outdoor fitness game embraceiu py grown-ups.
Today, Pearson reports, 'Our second Gaaoiefield is enjoying the sa=e ter-
rific response as our first. The large nnsiber of runners and joggers
undoubtedly confirms our research: Ganefield's the best.'

CITY OF 1~STii00D MASSACHJSBTTS
w~r~-.~ . _ ~r
HISTORY
~~
When, in 1983, Daniel F. Pleines, Director of Recreation, broke ground for his
Gamefield, his expectations were high. With "Pride in Our Programs and Parks"
as his motto, Dan expected his new Gamefield to be a well-received enhancement
to existing park activities.
RESULTS AND BENEFITS: ENHANCED COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING CAPABILITIES
Even the enthusiastic are overwhelmed, as was Dan Pleines when his Gamefield
drew families, walkers, joggers, seniors, school physical education and health
classes, along with school and youth sports teams, to name a few. His first
clue that something extraordinary was happening in Westwood came in the form
of numerous local businesses and residents offering funding support. These
sponsors are among the thousands using the Gamefield today.
-4-
