Minutes of December 7, 1983 Meeting. were approved as submitted.
B. Minutes of January 4, 1984 Meeting were approved as submitted.
IV. Correspondence
A. Council Report
Janecek reported that the south basin only of Long Lake will be
closed April 30-June 8 for treatment. The Park Board is .seeking
a senior member for current opening on the Board. Cable TV is
not producing what they promised in the contract. The Silver
• Lake Road bridge is scheduled for widening. the summer of '85.
It is very dangerous for pedestrians; a six laMe bridge is planned.
Johnson asked about the cost of Long Lake treatment and what
the process was.
Anderson responded that the Long Lake treatment would cost
approximately $250,00.0. Nitrate will be put into the sediment
so that nutrients won't release into the water to promote algae
bloom. This is part of the cleanup project for the Rice Creek
Watershed District and there is Federal grant money available.
B. Long Lake Advisory Committee
Dahl stated the committee met on January 18th. The beach building
design was changed somewhat to make it more serviceable. Bids
will be out in the spring and hope to have construction of the
bathhouse done the end of the year. The committee passed the
same motion as the Park Board in regard to the Joint Powers
Agreement. There was discussion on the waste energy project. There is
much concern for its location in relation to the park. Develop-
ment timelines for the park are somewhat behind.
Anderson said Ramsey County asked William Bros. to move their.
pipeline because it is under .the road for the beach. William
Bros. said they are not responsible for the move; a compromise
is being sought. The county, railroad and pipeline company may
have to split the cost. Very little development can go on be-
fore it is moved.
