February 1, .1984 Park Board Minutes
Page.. 3
Anderson said his recommendation was a trail system linking the
park with the entire development and having an exercise trail,
We are requesting park land to replace the land which would be
lost to the road. .More .concerned about the location of the land
than how much.
The Park. Board needs to give Dick Putnam some general ideas of
what they want so they can combine with other concerns and ideas
they've. received.
Olson liked using the whole ponding area and .the trail system,
however she can see where it may be a problem if it runs through
someones yard.
Johnson said he'd like to see 15O ft. on the south side of the
pond. The trail system is insignificant. He's all for lots of
park.
Putnam-asked if the .Park Board would like to have a 50 foot slope
on the west side of the park. The last thing some people want is
a trail in their .back yard.
Gunderman said maybe the slope could be utilized in the winter for
sliding.
Carlson said he feels strongly. about. keeping the entire pond other-
wise it will be split; public and private. Fie likes having the roads
in the development running in multiple directions.. .Does not: like
having a road next to a park. Doesn't like throwing away part of a
park and putting kids in .danger. It would be nice having the trail
system on the south and a green area or rest area with benches on
the other side. Then there would be reason for the people to use
it going south.
Rose asked when this would all take place,
Putnam said late spring.., early summer for the model units, To
complete the project it would be 5 or 6 years. Should be done
by 1990.
Solberg said she likes to enjoy the area behind the church as it
is rather than putting a trail in. Concerned with. the road in the
park.
Anderson said the road would be fenced and that area is not used
very much.
Dahl favored .having the entire pond and slope as passive and a
trail system. Envision it as a nice picnic area.
Gunderman said its-s function should be looked at in terms of .what
is appropriate to the age group of potential residents,
Putnam mentioned that the corner of Silver Lake Road and County
Road E probably would not be a residential.. area but .they are
considering a-day care center or an office. It`s too busy far
homes.
