November 6, 1985 Park Board Meeting Page 4 <br />VII. Announcements <br />A. DECEMBER PARK BOARD .MEETING IS AT CITY HALL because the <br />Brightwood Hills Community Room will be used for a craft sale. <br />Anderson said he wants to have a meeting with Mounds View, <br />Arden Hills, and Shoreview Park Boards to see what they <br />are doing and also to let them know about Long Lake Park <br />because they would also be using the park. <br />Seward asked when the discussion of fees at the beach started. <br />Anderson said in May when the three other amendments were <br />approved and at formation of the Master Plan. <br />Seward said he was not sure he is in agreement with beach fees. <br />Anderson said all the beaches in Hennepin County. Park Reserve <br />District charge fees. Ramsey County will probably be charging <br />fees at all their beaches in the next 4 or 5 years. <br />Eichers said he would rather see a prking fee than a per head <br />fee. <br />Rose asked when the hiking trails would be open. <br />Anderson said 1986. <br />Johnson suggested putting in markers for distance. <br />Seward asked how the beach fee would be collected. <br />Anderson. said in order to get to the beach you have to go <br />through the building. There would be a turnstyle or similar. <br />Anderson said the people coming to the beach will probably <br />be about 600 outside of New Brighton. They will be the <br />ones actually paying for the beach. <br />Eichers asked if it is Ken Simons' plan to develop Long Lake <br />Park like Elm Creek. <br />Anderson responded yes. <br />Seward asked if the park and beach will be open in the spring. <br />Anderson said that is the Council's decision. <br />Eichers said he was very pleased with. the park tour. Ken <br />Simons did a good job. <br />VIII. Adjourment <br />Meeting adjourned at 9:OOpm <br />
