Gunderman took orders and said he would b e responsible for ordering them. C. 1986 CIP Anderson said the City budget has been trimmed. Federal revenue sharing money is disappearing - it's almost down to nothing. State aid funds are also down. Also insurance costs have gone up dramatically. Increase for this year was $150,000 over last year and far less coverage. It will get worse. All these factors add up to the fact that the City is hurting for money. A $25,000 CIP budget cut was suggested and Anderson said he agreed. Passible places to cut the budget would be the parking lot at the south end of Hansen, Silver Oak play equipment or Freedom path lighting. Recommend leaving Vets as is. Benke suggested deleting Hansen parking lot with the understanding that if the road goes in, we'll find some money elsewhere. MOTION BY VAN HATTEN, SECONDED BY CARLSON, TO DELETE SOUTH HANSEN PARKING LOT FROM THE CIP WITH THE UNDER- STANDING TT COULD BE DONE NEXT YEAR. MOTION CARRIED. Anderson brought up the idea discussed at a previous meeting that the softball teams contribute money toward improvements (lighting) of the fields. Benke asked if this could be broadened to include the hockey people. The cost of ice maintenance far 1985 was $55,000. Anderson said he gat the impression from the Council that if the Department could prove we can take in $5,000 a year they would support the idea. Blamquist said hockey is going indoor more and more. The registration fee is going to the travelling teams. Anderson said we get more non-organized hockey on our rinks than organized. Gunderman said that's a healthy sign. Anderson said he would feel comfortable charging the adult softball players an extra fee but not the kids activities.
