Discussion lead to having an underground tunnel, may be cheaper. Looking at 1995-2000 before it would be funded. MOTION BY GUNDERMAN, SECONDED BY EICHERS, TO HAVE MAURIE ANDERSON GET INFORMATION ON PROVIDING ACCESS FROM THE WEST TO LONG LAKE. Seward felt it would be expensive and it could not be a footbridge because the plane and some boats may not be able to pass under. Gunderman said it may be cheaper to have a tunnel. ,Let's not make assumptions with what can be done. MOTION CARRIED, SEWARD NAY, Since the lighting of an athletic field will probably be at Freedom, '87, shouldn't the parking be done at the same time to accommodate the extra use. The small diamond may be eliminated if the large field is lighted so the parking may be reduced. Softball across the nation is taking a tremendous surge. Would like to keep the two lighted fields in the CIP. Need ideas about where we could put another complex of softball fields. Suggestions were NW area of 694 near Post Office, north of Basic Industries, the gravel pit. MOTION BY BLOMQUIST, SECONDED BY SEWARD, TO ACCEPT THE PARKS CIP AS PRESENTED. MOTION CARRIED. Johnson asked if some provision should be made for lights for Pike Lake Trail. The Park Board did not feel it was appropriate. Eichers mentioned some of his neighbors are in favor of an indoor hockey rink. The Park Board responded that the hockey people have tried for a number of years, but the cost has made them slow down. VI. Old Business A. Comprehensive Plan Meeting Schedule Anderson gave the Park Board an old schedule that had been made up and asked for criteria far setting up the neighborhood park meetings: *after 8:00 *different days *Sept.-Oct. *have one rookie and on Vet at the parks
