NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD MINUTES <br />AUGUST 6, 1986 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Chairman Johnson. <br />II. Members present: Carlson(7:50), Eichers, Johnson, Kalina, <br />Olson, Seward, Van Hatten, Council Rep. Williams <br />III. Minutes <br />MOTION BY OLSON, SECONDED BY KALINA, TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF <br />JULY 2, 1986. .MOTION CARRIED. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Williams said the City Picnic was good. Veterans Park Plan <br />(L-6) was discussed. The Council liked the plan; it addressed <br />all the issues the Council members were concerned about. No <br />action was taken. On August 12 the Council .will discuss that <br />plan, the parking plan, and the vacating of 3rd Ave. The <br />Veterans Park plan should not be a problem but the outcome <br />on 3rd Ave. is a concern. <br />The Council has declared 1987 as Centennial year. The Council <br />has tentatively decided to work the Centennial celebration into <br />our normal events such as Stockyard Days instead of having <br />different centennial events. <br />Eichers asked if the beach grand opening will be part of <br />the centennial? <br />Williams said it could be done. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />Ken Johnson said a meeting was not scheduled. <br />V. New Business <br />A. 1987-91 CIP <br />Interest from Long Lake proceed money is being used to operate <br />Long Lake Beach, develop parks, and park maintenance. <br />1986 projects were easy to fund. 1987 and following years. <br />become tougher. Now the liquor store revenue has been <br />committed to City Hall remodeling. If the Council orders <br />park projects, parks will be using tax levy:. money. The <br />Council may be doing more soul searching when it comes to <br />parks projects because it will now directly affect the mill <br />levy. <br />
