July 2, 1986 Park Board Minutes Page 10
VII. Announcements
A. Grand Opening Long Lake
Anderson said the grand opening has been postponed _i._ndefinitely.
The fencing won't be in this year. Ramsey County .had to get
second bids because the first one couldn't get a bid bond.
We are looking at mid August before the fence is completed.
Some Ramsey County commissioners have been very critical about
the money spent at Long Lake. Don't want to have a grand
opening with the snow fence up.
Olson asked how the turn out has been at the beach.
Anderson said about 100 to 300 on a busy day. We can
handle about 1,000. Since it is half developed it has been
a good crowd and a good way to get trained in. We are charging
now.
Eichers said the staff are very pleasant. His complaint is
the speeders on the street.
Anderson said we are aware of it and the Police are working
on it. Ken Simons and John Kelley are working on it. The
trail system would help get bikers and hikers off the road.
Anderson said he is putting pressure on Ramsey County to get
the trail system in for 1987. May be able to accelerate it.
Rose asked how many miles of trail there will be.
Anderson said about 32 - 5 miles of trails.
Williams said the Council had received a complaint that
Creekview was not being maintained.
Anderson said the complaint was that he couldn't get across
the bridge because of high grass. Problem has been resolved.
VIII. Adjournment
MOTION BY OLSON, SECONDED BY BLOMQUIST, TO ADJOURN AT 9:25PM
MOTION CARRIED.
