A pond would be created in the center by interrupting where the 3 pipes join. Would have to construct a weir at the north end to maintain the water level. Williams said the church has taken a definite position to vacate 3rd Ave. Anderson said free skating doesn't work well on ponds because 1 out of 5 years you have snow on the ice and then a thaw and the ice is bad and. not safe to get vehicles out to maintain it. It would be nice to have the free skating area around the pond. It would be less likely to have hockey played on that area.It_would also be easy to maintain. Johnson asked where the walking and bike paths would be. Anderson said around the skating area. Johnson said you can make the pleasure rink change on the master plan.
