July 2, 1986 Park Board Minutes Page 3
B. Long Lake Advisory Committee
Johnson asked if there was a LLAC meeting.
Anderson said no June or July meeting. The next meeting
will probably be held in August.
V. New Business
A. 19.87 - 91 CIP
Anderson said he went back to the minutes of the neighborhood
meetings and was somewhat surprised that there wasn't much
they asked us to do.
1987
Freedom - Liaht Athletic Field & stormwater Retention
Was $75,000 last year. The reason for increase is for the
stormwater retention part. It makes all the sense in the
world to do at the same time.
Should the money come out of the park fund?
Anderson said no, storm water utility fund.
Anderson said if it is lighted it does need to be irrigated.
If the field is extensively used, the turf must be maintained.
Vets Park - Phase II, Park Shelter, Plantinas
Phase II also includes concert area, path system. The amount
was. increased because of the shelter building cost. Buildings
at Hidden Oaks and Driftwood were about $1.50,000. Don't know
if we want to go the same route. We may want Vets to be more
informal, more in the $50,000-$70,000 range.
Johnson said it's hard to believe a shelter building would cost
that much when you compare what you get in a house for that
price.
Anderson said it's all the State building codes and restrictions
that are put on public buildings. There were three quotes for
the shelters at other parks and they were all in the same range.
Eichers said he still finds it hard to believe. The differences
shouldn't be that high.
Anderson said he would think the shelter building at Vets would be
about $50,000 and have bathrooms. That guess may be way under.
Hansen Park Pathway
Would be a bituminous path on the west boundary of the park by
Polynesian Village. 'May have to have a bridge for part of it.
