July 2, 1986 Park Board Minutes Page 5
1991
Trail system - Old Hwy. 8 Corridor
A trail around Jones Lake is also under consideration. This
may be the only chance we get for the corridor. Jones Lake
trail would be very nice. It would not be in anyone's back yard.
Hard Court Area Driftwood
Would like to have an area to shoot baskets.
Replace Hockey Rink - Hansen
Replace both rinks. Would like to make them permanent because
we don't take them down anymore. Football could be played
at Freedom if the lights go in.
Blomquist asked if the hockey rinks at Hansen could be set
further apart. As a spectator, you get hit in the back
with a puck.
Blomquist asked if there was no intention of any plans for
Vets after 1987. If Phase I is not done this year, then
that would push everything back.
Anderson said he had hoped to be done in 2 years.
Johnson said plantings could be added.
Williams asked what was in the '86 budget.
Anderson said $50,000.
Anderson said that would just cover what we want - not any
left over for plantings.
Johnson said do the plantings in 1987.
Williams asked if $50,000 covers the play equipment.
Anderson said the play equipment should be about $25,000. It
could be done in stages. Do half this fall and half in the
spring.
Johnson said St. John's could raise some money to go toward the
play equipment.
Anderson said the Eagles want to do something at Vets. Anderson
asked them if they wanted to adopt a part of the park. We could
do the same with the school and then the city would pick up the
other third.
