Nelson - the shelter building at the ,park is poor, it has been put off until we knew what was happening with City Hall. Resident - Will the residents or Park Board vote on the final plan. Johnson - Neither, the City Council will. Resident - Why don't the residents vote on the final. Johnson - We need to come up with a compromise. If I poll you on the ball diamond will there be a consensus. Residents - yes, we want a ball diamond, but we don't want major league games. Resident - want the park upgraded, the park is too small for the path system and pond. The ramp to 5th Ave. would all be uphill to get to downtown. Midness - No, it would be a 20-1 slope; you will hardly notice the slope. Resident.- Where will the senior housing be. Midness - Nd~th of the park. Resident - If you have 20-1 you'd be at the middle of the park. Midness - To about where the dumpster is now. Resident - Middle area is going to sink. Van Hatten -.Sounds like a.good place for the pond. Resident - Don't have to have a permanent shelter. Resident - Does there have to be a pond? Johnson - No, some area to catch water. Resident representing St. John's - Sister Gwendolin wants to retain the things that are .there now; the ball field, skating, playground. Resident- Father Jerry wanted the home plate moved. by ,the parking lot. Johnson - The sun could make the position of the ball field a problem. • Resident (5t. John's) - have the ball field the way it is and retain the street. St. John's uses the park from 12:00-2:OOpm. Would like to keep as many activities as possible .without getting too fancy with all the aethetic things - don't overdue. Midness.- We are increasing activities with the tot lot.
