Page 2 <br />o <br />All sides of the roadway and median strips should be curbed . <br />o Lighting <br />Lighting along the New Brighton segment of Highway 96 should be <br />consistent with beautification techniques as proposed in the New <br />Brighton Highway 8 Corridor Plan . Any actual new type of lighting has <br />not yet been decided. <br />o Traffic Control Measures <br />New Brighton has targeted Old Highway 8 for intensive <br />office/industrial/ commercial redevelopment efforts . Because the <br />freeway .interchange at Highway 96 and I-35W is a major entrance into <br />the developing "industrial/office corridor", traffic levels will. <br />continue to increase, especially at peak hours . Traffic levels in the <br />area should be monitored closely to determine when and where the <br />installation of semaphores is appropriate. <br />o Signal <br />As indicated in the New Brighton Highway 8 Corridor Plan, Trunk <br />Highway 96 should be. identified as an. entry .point to the <br />commercial/industrial- corridor. An entrance sign could be placed. as <br />shown on the attached drawing, whether eliminating or incorporating <br />the current highway signage in this area. <br />o .Landscaping <br />A greenway concept is shown as an element of the New Brighton Highway <br />8 Corridor Plan. The attached drawing considers the greenway concept <br />and shows a landscaped median and boulevard trees used to create an <br />attractive entrance ,to New Brighton. <br />o Underground Utilities <br />The elimination of above ground utility lines creates abetter <br />aesthetic appearance. of the area. Both the representatives of Arden <br />Hills and Shoreview have indicated some desire to eliminate above <br />ground utility lines adjacent to .Trunk Highway 96 . <br />
