4
November 4, 1987 Park Board Minutes
Johnson asked if the Park Board should visit the
- facility.
Anderson thought that would be a good idea.
Anderson said there hasn't been any cost discussions
yet. That would be the next step. We would probably
get an architect to look at the facility and tell us
what we need.
Van Hatten suggested that perhaps the next park board
meeting could be scheduled there.
MOTION CARRIED.
B. Hwy. 96 Corridor Study
Anderson briefly went over the memo from Brenda
Krueger. Sometime Hwy. 96 will be updated. A
committee was formed and they have been meeting to
discuss what form the updating should take. At this
point in time, the material received is for.
informational purposes-only. The committee would
like input and suggestions from the Park Board.
Anderson said the bikeway intrigues him.
Van .Hatten said the bridge doesn't look wide enough
to handle the bike path.
Johnson agreed.
Johnson said the exits from the freeway along with
the bike and walking paths look dangerous.
Van Hatten asked why the bike path was on the south
side as opposed to what appears to be the less busy
north side.
Anderson said he understood that the committee voted
for the bike path to be on the south side.
Johnson suggested having a separate bridge for bikes
that could go into Long Lake Park.
Anderson said it could be explored.
Anderson suggested the Park Board make a motion if
there was anything that concerned them about this
project.
