5
November 4, 1987 Park Board Minutes
Van Hatten inquired about having a pedestrian path on
the railroad tracks.
Anderson said the Railroad would not agree.
Johnson felt the motion should include some options.
Anderson felt that if the Park Board expressed their
concerns with the traffic and pedestrian/bike paths
the committee could come up with alternatives.
Blomquist said it should be stated that the Park
Board has some concern with bike path on the south
side of the bridge because of traffic.
Carlson suggested just giving the. committee a copy of
the Park Board minutes. The Park Board concurred.
VI. Old Business
None
VII. Announcements
Eichers said. he went to the MRPA meeting. He talked with
the Director of Chanhassen who has just completed a
survey for a community center. The Chanhassen Director
believes a community center can be built for 2 1/2
million dollars. Eichers said he has been trying for 3
weeks to get a copy of the estimates but he can't get a
hold of the man. The bond issue for Chanhassen was to
include Fire and Police and the community center. They
have not voted yet. Eichers said he is not confident the
2 1/2 million is an accurate cost. The meeting was well
run.
Anderson said he had four quick announcements
He had a brief discussion with the youth hockey
association who wanted. to cover a couple of the hockey
rinks (at Hansen). There would still be natural ice but
have some seating. Discussion was for either a bubble or
a wood or metal structure. This structure-could be left
up all summer and perhaps used for things like Stockyard
Days activities. Anderson said all outdoor hockey games
could then be moved to Hansen.
Kalina asked if footings would be necessary. Anderson
said yes.
