There was no good reason why we should but we have <br />good reason why we shouldn't.. We were instructed by the <br />City Council some years ago to reduce. all non-essential <br />mowing. This instruction has never been lifted. <br />B. Long Lake Advisory Committee <br />Johnson said they went over .the park plans. The boat <br />launch was discussed. Plans-will be to the Park Board <br />in June. <br />Carlson said he did not get a notice of the meeting. <br />Johnson said the trails in Long Lake Park have been set <br />as a lower priority. <br />Anderson said he remembers the Long Zake Advisory <br />Committee and the Park Board expressing their desire <br />to make the trails a priority. Anderson said he thought <br />everyone made it clear that the south trails were a <br />priority and should be done immediately. <br />Ken Simons of Ramsey County stated the county staff <br />decided the south trail was a lower priority than the <br />large picnic area. He said the county wanted to develop <br />the inside trials first and the outside trails last. <br />Anderson reminded Simons that the Park Board and Long <br />Lake Advisory Committee wanted the outside trails <br />done first. Simons responded that the county wanted <br />to do what the public wanted and Ramsey County has had <br />numerous requests for the large group picnic area to be <br />completed. <br />Anderson said the trails. are something people won't <br />request but are high. priority. <br />Van Hatten said you'd get more use on the trails in one <br />day than a picnic area in a week. <br />Anderson said the park use would climb. immediately if <br />the trails were in. <br />
