May 6, 1987 Park Board Minutes
Page 3
Williams asked if the large group picnic area and the
interior trails were going in this summer.
Anderson said yes.
Williams suggested that all the. trails and the picnic
area be completed this summer, meeting both our priority
and the county's.
Johnson said the dollars are there.
Anderson said easements are needed, and appraisals need
to be done. The county's attorney's office has to
approve. The process is slow for all of this, it may be
too late to get it done this summer.
Carlson said.. from a safety stand point you would think
the trails would be priority.
MOTION BY VAN HATTEN, SECONDED BY CARLSON, THAT THE PARK
BOARD REAFFIRM ITS STAND THAT THE ACCESS TRAILS AT LONG
LAKE PARK BE GIVEN TOP PRIORITY.
MOTION CARRIED.
Williams recommended that a letter be sent from the
Mayor and City Council recommending the same action
as the motion.
Johnson commented that the new wheelchair that Ramsey
County purchased to be used at the beach (in the sand)
did not work. Revisions to the chair are being looked
into.
C. Letter from Cindy Murlowski
Anderson stated she is anticipating a problem before it
occurred.
Anderson said if we stay with the accepted standard used
in the City it is less likely that we will have
problems. The problem with the beer was before the
parking lot was in. If she calls the Police when there
is a problem it should work-out by itself.
Anderson said that the tennis court saga down at Silver
Oak may now have a solution. The City Attorney checked
the agreement the city had with Cadwalader to see if
there was a loop hole that could force Cadwalder to do
something about the tennis courts. After about 6
months of checking, he found nothing.
