May 4, 1994 New Brighton Park Board Minutes 2 b. Multi City Senior Center Olson commented she had received a letter stating the footprint of the building would have to be changed but nothing major. C. Family Service Center The building is going well. They are about two weeks ahead of schedule. The baring walls are underway. Conduit laid in the floor. The electric, water lines, storm sewer are in. The soil on the site is much better than anticipated. Some days have had about 30 block layers there. Anderson said if this meeting finishes early, we could tour the Family Service Center site. 5. New Business a. Family Service Center, Review Committee Action Anderson commented that the committee had their first meeting at 5:30pm just prior to the Park Board meeting. Many of the Park Board members are on the committee and those who are not are welcome to come to any meeting event though you may not be able to commit regularly. Felt- the first meeting got off to a good start. There is a good cross- section of people on the committee. -Would -like to have a recommendation to the Council in July. One decision we have to make is how we will treat sport, scouting groups, etc. that already contribute to the community. They don't have much money-to pay fees for building use and yet we need to be taking in enough money to operate the facility. Maplewood just went through this exercise so it is good to have them to check with. We won't be able to change things dramatically from the way they do things in neighboring communities because we need to stay somewhat consistent. The Committee meets the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm. Everyone is welcome. b. Adopt a Park Anderson said the agenda was light and he decided to add this to the agenda. It was suggested this item again be deferred to the next meeting so there would be time to do the tour of the Family Service Center site. 6. Old Business None
