Apri16, 1994 New Brighton Park Board Minutes 4 Would like to have this information in place before the 1995 budget. The budget will be dependent on the results of this committee. Decisions like: do you charge teens to use the teen center? Some communities chazge, others do not. What fee is charged for the indoor playground? Encourage as many Park Boazd members as possible to be involved as possible. The July Park Board meeting would be the final wrap up before the 1995 budget is in place. Olson, Orel, Trevorrow, Kinzie volunteered. (Cazlson and Sykes were. contacted later and also agreed to be on the sub-committee). Ocel commented that her teen will not go anywhere where he has to pay. The Pazk Board discussed the meeting day and time for the sub-committee and decided to meet one or two hours prior to the Park Boazd meeting. The committee would be in place for 3-4 months. Olson commented that Shoreview started chazging pazents to go into the swimming area even if they did not swim. That tripled the fee for some people. Anderson said he wants to keep the fees reasonable but need to chazge fees to keep the building up and running. It will be cheaper to run the facility on-site that if we were located off-site. It gives us opportunity to see how things aze working. Anderson said. he believes people like the way the building .incorporates lots of different organizations in one building. The school district has -asked to lease more space. If we can get enough leases-for a third floor, could add it now. We would use the lease money to build the third floor. VI. Old Business A. Adopt a Pazk Olson commented that this item keeps getting deferred. The Pazk Board agendas have been heavy. It was decided that it be taken off the agenda. B. Board and Commission Reorganization Matt Fulton and Barb Jeanetta talked with every boazd and commission in the City. Have no idea what will come out of the meeting and discussion set for next week. Williams commented-that at the staff retreat the idea of combining the Pazk Board and the EQC came about. The combination would be something like a Natural Resources Committee. Williams said it was suggested eazlier that recreational programs be located with some other commission but that idea did not go over well with the Pazk Boazd.
