Committee Reorganization Page 3 Human Services Commission/Committee Changes: -This is a new committee that would pick up the functions of the Human Rights Committee. -The committee would also be asked to advise the Council on and assist staff in planning Family Service Center Programming and Activities and Park's recreation programming. It would advise on and promote volunteerism activities. Natural Resources Commission/Committee Changes: -This is a new committee that would pick up the functions of the Environmental Quality Commission and the physical land and facilities issues of the Park Board -The committee would also be asked to advise the Council on recycling, water quality, wetlands, and other environmental issues as they arose Public Policy Commission/Committee Changes: -This is a new committee which will pick up the work of the Citizen Study Committee and the Financial Policy Advisory Board in addition to any other policy issues that may arise that wouldn't fall under the purview of the other standing committees. They would also advise on the leadership development programs. Public Safety Commission/Committee Changes: -This is a new committee to address issues of a major City goal -Three members of the group would serve as the Civil Service Commission -The committee would be asked to advise the Council on issues related to public safety such as Neighborhood watch, DARE, -The committee would be asked to advise on implementation of "community oriented government" practices -This committee would deal with public safety concerns impacting the Police and Fire Departments Boards and Commissions that cease to exist. as we know them: Citizen Study Committee Environmental Quality Commission Human Rights Commission Financial Policy Advisory Board Park Board Civil Service Commission
