Committee Reorganization <br />Page 3 <br />Human Services Commission/Committee <br />Changes: <br />-This is a new committee that would pick up the functions of the Human <br />Rights Committee. <br />-The committee would also be asked to advise the Council on and assist staff <br />in planning Family Service Center Programming and Activities and Park's <br />recreation programming. It would advise on and promote volunteerism <br />activities. <br />Natural Resources Commission/Committee <br />Changes: <br />-This is a new committee that would pick up the functions of the <br />Environmental Quality Commission and the physical land and facilities issues <br />of the Park Board <br />-The committee would also be asked to advise the Council on recycling, water <br />quality, wetlands, and other environmental issues as they arose <br />Public Policy Commission/Committee <br />Changes: <br />-This is a new committee which will pick up the work of the Citizen Study <br />Committee and the Financial Policy Advisory Board in addition to any other <br />policy issues that may arise that wouldn't fall under the purview of the other <br />standing committees. They would also advise on the leadership development <br />programs. <br />Public Safety Commission/Committee <br />Changes: <br />-This is a new committee to address issues of a major City goal <br />-Three members of the group would serve as the Civil Service Commission <br />-The committee would be asked to advise the Council on issues related to <br />public safety such as Neighborhood watch, DARE, <br />-The committee would be asked to advise on implementation of "community <br />oriented government" practices <br />-This committee would deal with public safety concerns impacting the Police <br />and Fire Departments <br />Boards and Commissions that cease to exist. as we know them: <br />Citizen Study Committee <br />Environmental Quality Commission <br />Human Rights Commission <br />Financial Policy Advisory Board <br />Park Board <br />Civil Service Commission <br />
