September 1, 1993 Pazk Boazd Minutes
2
Anderson said we had a good summer. Three years ago we had a free
afternoon playground program where we had 25-30 kids. We have
535,000 of tax payers money to use and we wanted to make good
use of it. The first year we charged a $5 program fee, then 510 and
this year 515. Each time we increased the fee the attendance grew.
Naw more kids are continuing longer into the summer. At some parks
we have about 75 kids. We made parents aware of the fact we would
keep kids there all day. We did a survey and they liked the fact that
kids would be accounted for the whole day.
Anderson said he is proud of Pat Tuma and Brenda Weller for the job
they've done and turned this into an excellent program. Leaders were
very good. Some were young teachers or just entering the profession.
Eichers said his kids were involved and he has seen the change from
more of a babysitting situation to actually scheduling programs.
Anderson said the program needed a lot of work and it got it.
V. New Business
A. Innsbruck 5th Addition Development
Anderson stated he wanted to bring closure to what goes into this
park; to where it is located and what it contains. Have 51.30,000 and
an 58,000 grant for small businesses. We will. have to have a planting
plan. We prefer to do the grading this fall; if not, it will be :done in the
Spring of '94.
Anderson commented that he wants the park to serve the
neighborhood and the community. The park has had a boundary
change; added some property and took some away. The change is
better because it gives us a larger piece of land to work with.
The parking has been moved to the east side of the park. There are
three areas that will be damp and lower than the rest of the park.
Would like to put a driveway in on the East side for about 20 cars.
Would like to put a soccer field in the open area. Plan to put in about
520,000-525,000 worth of playground equipment. The process used
for installing play equipment is to select 4 or 5 possibilities and notify
residents in the park area and have them choose what they want.
Plan to have a trail system around the pond to Linden Drive. There is
a berm along the north end of the park. Prefer not to put in a path
there. Will reforest the park. Though the original plan, done by
Harstad, showed tennis courts, don't feel they are needed. Cost is
about 525,000 or a 540,000. There are other courts close by; Hidden
Oaks an ~ ~© ~p~ ~ ~~ a small picnic shelter or gazebo that
would h '
Olson a: be put up by the berm.
