September 1, 1993 Park Board Minutes 3 Anderson said we helped fund the courts at Irondale, don't think we need additional courts. A resident inquired if there would be a basketball court. Anderson said there could be one. It would be easy to install. It could be in the vicinity of the gazebo. A resident asked about a sand volleyball court. Anderson said that could be done. We have one a Meadow Wood and two at Driftwood and one at Hansen. A resident stated that the last time the plan was shown there were tennis courts. Anderson said that was the developer's (Harstad's) plan not the Park Board or staff plan. A resident commented that the features talked about could go on the south side of the park. Anderson said some could go there but we can't put everything there. We have to keep the townhouse residents in mind. We could add a few amenities to each side. If we do tennis, one court is suggested. Trevorrow mentioned that if 525,000 is spent on .the tennis courts, that is a good portion of the three year budget. Anderson it will take a few years to get the park ready. Will want to get black dirt down and grass and trees planted. We should plan for what we want and over time we will get there. A resident asked if rocks could be put along the pond. Anderson said usually we just have grass. Fluctuation of water level could be more difficult with rock. The resident said Windsor Green has rock and Shoreview also, it is more aesthetically pleasing. Anderson said it is more difficult to maintain and more expensive to install. A resident said there is a drop in elevation at one area of the park and wondered how it would be maintained. Anderson said the whole park will probably be able to be maintained, except for the berm. If we can't mow, we will plant shrub beds, we won't let it just grow weeds. A resident inquired if there is a way to enter the park from the northwest corner.
