September 1, 1993 Park Board Minutes
4
Anderson said the City owns a 10 foot strip of property in that corner
of the park. The owners next to the 10 foot strip have planted grass
and are maintaining it now. They know that it is the City's property.
If entering the park there becomes a problem, we could put a hedge in
or a low fence. The preference would be to leave it as is.
A resident expressed concern about taking the path into the park up
by the berm because it felt like he would be walking in someone's
backyard.
Anderson said the owners are aware of this, it should not be a
problem.
Anderson said if a path was put in, it would have to be cut into the
berm and take trees out. Don't want to do that. Would like to wait
and see how it works. If we get calls, we can put the path in.
Kinzie thought a sign would be helpful.
Carlson suggested a split rail corner fence to identify the path.
A resident said the person who lives there is very concerned about.-the
path.
Anderson said yes, she was unable to attend the meeting tonight but
she has expressed her concerns to me.
Trevorrow inquired about planting prairie grass at the park.
Anderson said the soil is heavy; it would be hard to establish. It has
to be burned every other year and that is a concern because the park
is surrounded by homes.
A resident asked if a path would be put in all the way around the
pond.
Anderson said people like to walk around it so if it is possible it will be
done.
Resident expressed concern about having benches placed close to
their back yards. Inquired if the benches could be placed on the inside
of the trail facing the water.
Anderson said the benches would probably be placed up higher.
