May 5, 7993 Park Board Minutes
4
O'Brien said the day care has to be on the first floor but it is possible
to move the earth so that there could be an entrance outside from the
second floor. Leave the creek and have a bridge to get to the parking
area.
Anderson asked if the Park Board had an any comments or specific
items they would like to see. If you know of a group interested in
sharing this facility or if you think of anything, give me a call.
Anderson said there is more space to work with. Some may be left
unfinished so that it can be leased.
Olson said that whenever the Park Board toured a community center in
he past, they all wanted more space.
Carlson asked if there will be a whirlpool.
Anderson thought the physical therapist may have one put in.
Kinzie asked if the community room would be like Shoreview's so
there could be weddings.
Anderson said yes.
Anderson also added that if the Multi City Senior Center did not go, it
would take little retooling to make the- Family Center work for seniors.
B. Adopt a Park
Olson stated that the Park Board had talked about this a long time ago
and it was put on hold. Olson said she would like to see this program
take place. When people are involved in a park, there is less
vandalism, etc.
Williams inquired how the program works. Are volunteers given
projects? Do they have specific things to do?
Anderson said one group could be assigned to flower beds or
trimming. We always need help with hand work.
Williams asked if volunteers wilt know what is expected of them.
Anderson said yes. We will need to set up some kind of menu.
Olson said it all needs to be set up. Each park may differ.
Anderson said he will put it on the next agenda. Would like to have
two or three from the Park Board form a committee to work on this.
