NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />FEBRUARY 3, 1993 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:35pm by Chair Olson. <br />II. Members present: Eichers; Kinzie; Ocel; Olson; Council Rep. Williams, <br />Staff Rep. Anderson; Mike Walker, Park Maintenance Superintendent; Bob <br />Jacobson, Police Dept. Operations Manager; approx. 30 Hansen Park area <br />residents <br />Members absent: Carlson; Helgeson; Kalina; Knuth; Trevorrow <br />III. Minutes of Dec. 2, 1992 <br />Not approved - no quorum <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Council Rep. Williams informed the Park Board of a few of the major <br />issues the Council has been working on; Church Upon the Rock <br />proposal, Silver Lake Road widening, and downtown development. <br />B. Multi City Sr. Center Task Force <br />Olson stated there have been four meetings; one in each city to <br />discuss the senior center. New Brighton's meeting was very positive. <br />About 100 attended, young and old. Some of the other meetings did <br />not go as smoothly. <br />Williams said there are three questions people need to answer 1) Do <br />you want a senior center, if yes where? 2) If Fridley site doesn't <br />work, then where? 3) Do we do a referendum? <br />V. New Business <br />A. Hansen Park Security Issues <br />Anderson explained to the Hansen Park area residents that the reason <br />for calling this meeting was because of a Focus Group survey that was <br />taken and security issues was one of the top three or four concerns of <br />New Brighton residents. There is not a specific problem at Hansen <br />Park or any other park; just want to get input about your concerns. <br />Hansen Park was chosen because it is New Brighton's largest park. <br />A resident stated that his children fear that there are drug dealers in <br />the park. <br />
