February 3, 1993 Park Board Minutes
2
Officer Jacobson informed residents that last summer a bike patrol
was added, so there is patrolling of the park. Nothing serious has
happened in the park; the history has been good. There are no known
drug dealers but he can understand the fear.
A resident inquired if the way she reported vandalism was proper since
the Ramsey County dispatcher who took her cal! was not very helpful.
Both Anderson and Jacobson affirmed that her procedure was correct
and Jacobson asked her to talk with him or Chief Kelley if she had a
concern with how her call was being received.
A couple residents expressed concern about excessive speed on their
street (17th about 3:30-S:OOpm and on 13th Ave.during softball
games) Police were good about responding.
Anderson said the softball players can be disciplined but let us know
when it is happening so we can take action.
A resident felt it would be nice if the Police could make the rounds in
the park after closing at 11:OOpm.
A resident commented that the lights on the pathway work well.
Jacobson encouraged incidents to be reported so they can keep a
handle on problems.
A resident commended the city for a good job on park maintenance.
A resident stated it was their responsibility to report to the Park and
Recreation Dept. when lights are out.
A resident asked where the bike patrol would be in the park.
Jacobson said on the paths.
The resident felt it would nice if the frisbee golf area could be
patrolled.
Jacobson said that is hard to have an officer there because of other
calls.
Jacobson said that some officers like being outside- meeting people.
We also want to be visible.
Anderson said the bikes are mountain bikes so they could go off the
paths.
