February 3, 1993 Pazk Boazd Minutes Jacobson added that the officers would be in uniform because we want to have high visibility. A resident commented he thought that was a fantastic idea. Jacobson welcomed any ideas. Anderson added that the information we get from residents is very valuable. A resident inquired about a pay phone in the park. Anderson responded that there is one in the shelter building but not outside because of vandalism problems. A resident on 14th stated he is aware of some problems of drinking and drugs in the park by 12th Ave. cul-de-sac. A resident asked if Satellites could somehow be made not to tip over. Mike Walker, Parks Superintendent responded that a wooden fence would be installed around each one for aesthetics but also the fence would prevent tipping. One resident expressed appreciation for the wildlife preservation efforts, i.e. long grass along creek bed for the ducks. There are a couple of fox that have been seen and deer. Another resident suggested that a few benches be put in. Walker said three recycled benches are planned for installation in the spring. A resident felt it would be nice if the city sponsored "block walks" which would help in getting to know their neighbors. Anderson said anything we can do to encourage more people in the park, the better. A resident inquired if there would be lights on the new tennis courts. 3 Anderson stated he had a concern for the residents in close proximity. Would like to light Highview courts. Could light six courts there for little more than the two at Hansen. A resident inquired about the rules for alcohol in the parks. Anderson said alcohol is allowed in less than case quantity in the picnic areas only. Any more than a case has to have the director's approval. Anderson said it is a liberal policy but have not had any major problems.
