December 2, 1992 Park Board Minutes 3 <br />Helgeson said Vets. Park would be great. He thinks an interpretive <br />area would be a great idea. <br />Another .idea would be for the golf course would be to have each hole <br />represented by a different species of tree. <br />Anderson said there may be a possibility that money could be matched <br />from the City's Community Involvement Fund. <br />B. Discussion of Tree Board and Greens Committee <br />The Tree Board would consist of eight people and might meet four <br />times a year. Members would consist of a Park Board person, <br />Environmental Control person and members of the community. They <br />would meet with Rick Wriskey, Forester.The Committee could meet <br />for a year and formalize after that time period. <br />The Greens Committee would include the driving range. It would meet <br />once a month with Mary Burg, Golf Course Superintendent and other <br />staff. Would like to target its members to be golfers. It is a way of <br />gathering more input about the golf course. <br />Would like to have a Park Board member on each committee. <br />Helgeson commented that if you get a Greens Committee there will be <br />changes. <br />A comment was made that the Long Lake Advisory group has been <br />dissolved. <br />MOTION BY HELGESON, SECONDED BY TREVORROW, TO SUPPORT <br />THE TREE BOARD AND GREENS COMMITTEE AS SUB COMMITTEES <br />OF THE PARK BOARD (WITH PARK BOARD REPRESENTATION ON <br />EACH COMMITTEE). MOTION CARRIED. <br />C. Discussion of Park Security Concerns <br />Anderson said he would like to have a meeting in February or March <br />for residents to discuss security concerns at the parks. A notice <br />would be sent out. <br />Eichers said he has seen stray dogs and some strange people "hanging <br />out" <br />A comment was made that more parking lot lights were needed at <br />Hansen. <br />VI.
