May 6, 1992 Park Board Minutes <br />5 <br />MOTION BY CARLSON, SECONDED BY KNUTH, TO RECOMMEND <br />AMENDING THE 1992 CIP TO INCLUDE DRIFTWOOD PLAY <br />EaU1PMENT AND TO HOLD A PLANNING SESSION WITH AREA <br />RESIDENTS. MOTION CARRIED. <br />Knuth suggested inviting people from the church also. <br />Handicap access for Pike Lake or Hansen -Anderson stated there <br />are strict rules for handicap accessibility, we need to keep <br />upgrading. Most of the equipment we have can be modified. We <br />should update all of our equipment before 1994. <br />Creekview Trail and Bridge -Anderson said it is desirable to <br />continue the trail to Mississippi. May want to look at crossing the <br />creek by putting in a bridge. <br />Knuth asked if it was part of the Long Lake and Rice Creek trail <br />system. Anderson responded. no. <br />Playground Equipment -this amount may need to increase because <br />of the new handicap accessibility act. <br />Creekview Picnic Shelter -Add picnic shelter at Creekview Park. <br />Hard court Driftwood & Hidden Oaks -Put in hard court at these <br />locations. <br />Accessible Park and Recreation Office -Olson asked if there were <br />any ideas yet about making the Park and Rec office. handicapped <br />accessible. <br />Anderson said that when the Park and Recreation location was <br />being considered an option for the Senior Center that would have <br />solved the problem. The courts in the City Hall building may move <br />and the Park and Recreation Dept. could be moved to City Hall. <br />That decision should be made before something is done with the <br />Park and Recreation building. <br />Vermont Playground Equipment -Vermont has an increase in the <br />number of children registered for the playground program and <br />existing equipment is wearing out. <br />Silver Oak Playground Equipment - <br />Benke asked if the City could front end the expense of the tennis <br />courts that the developer is suppose to relocate. <br />Anderson said he would rather resurface them. <br />
