February 5, 1992 Park Board Minutes
Benke asked if we didn't have money problem how many would we put
in?
Anderson said four.
Ocel said perhaps courts could go in at the park by Innsbruck too?
Anderson said we won't do anything there until we can meet with the
residents and see what they want.
Helgeson said with more than 2 courts the cost would be significant
because of the fill, dealing with. peat is very tricky.
6
Trevorrow asked if theextra money needed to do the tennis courts has to
come from the Innsbruck. Park money.
Benke said if something needs to be done we will find a-way to fund it.
Carlson asked if the courts will be lighted.
Anderson said no. Not sure the lights had that much use and the new
court is closer to homes.
Carlson said that was his concern.
MOTION BY CARLSON, SECONDED BY KINZIE, THAT A MINIMUM OF
TWO TENNIS COURTS BE CONSIDERED AT HANSEN PARK DIRECTLY
SOUTH OF THE PARKING LOT ON THE CURRENT FREE SKATING AREA
AND THAT TWO MORE COURTS BE CONSIDERED AT ANOTHER PARK
LOCATION AT ANOTHER TIME. MOTION CARRIED.
D. Aronson Property
Anderson said. the property is about 2 1 /2 acres. It is north of Rice Creek
on the north side of Long Lake Road. The Park Board had recommended
that we explore the purchase; get appraisals, etc. Anderson said he did
not recommend pursuing it at this time.
Carlson said it is on the water; hate to let a piece of property like this go
by.
Anderson said she is asking 5250,000. But we could possibly get it for
5150,000 to 5200,000.
Anderson said there are other higher priority items.
Benke said it would be a great little pocket park. It may also have some
historic aspects such as arrowheads. It wouldn't be easy to develop this
park if you kept the historic aspect in mind.
Helgeson commented that he had three little kids and wouldn't feel
comfortable having his children there with the creek so accessible.
