NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD
MINUTES
JANUARY 8, 1992
I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Chair Johnson
II. Members present: Eichers, Johnson, Kinzie, Orel, Rose,
Sewazd, Council Rep. Gunderman
III. Minutes of November 6, 1991
MOTION BY ROSE, SECONDED BY SEWARD, TO ACCEPT THE NOVEMBER 6,
1991 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED.
IV. Correspondence
A. Council Report
Gunderman said the Council is still trying to do more for less. They are
constantly looking for ways to cut costs. Also looking at appointments for the
boards and commissions for the coming year. There have been many applications
received for the boazds and commissions. The Council is looking at attendance of
previous boazd and commission members when considering reappointments.
Johnson may be switched over to the Economic Committee.
Johnson felt it may be a good idea to have board and commission members being
considered for reappointment have maximum terms they can serve if the number
of applicants continues to grow.
Gunderman said that this yeaz each boazd and commission will have an alternate
which can be called if necessary to make a quorum.
Eichers feels people in New Brighton may be more responsive to serving on
boazds and commissions because there is a good City Council.
Gunderman said the City continues to work with Arden Hills, Mounds View, and
Shoreview to combine jobs to keep costs down.
Gunderman stated more State aid may be taken away. Not much place to cut.
We may take another hit from the State. Community participation is needed to
find out best way to make cuts. Pazks may get hit the worst.
Johnson said going back to the reappointment discussion he feels it is important
not to get too many new people or you could lose continuity.
Gunderman said there were many competent people who applied. Had about 100
applicants.
