The Commission will be asked at the April meeting to review and prioritize <br />outdoor recreation activities appropriate for Ramsey County to provide. <br />Commission Member Updates Regarding Work Plan Assignments <br />Chairman Nethercut said he has nothing to report on "Cooperation/Collaboration/ <br />Consolidation" as yet. He mentioned that the minority report of the. Study Commission <br />received nearly as many votes as the majority report.- He will begin working on the annual <br />"State of the Parks" report soon. <br />Mr. Frank reported on .the bike conference he attended. He said he would like to begin <br />work on the proposal for the County system. He will modify the advocacy network to .include <br />adjoining counties. <br />Mr. Nolan said he has been unable to make contact with Dick Trudeau, former General Manager <br />of the East Bay Regional Park District, regarding "Private Funding; Gifts, Memorials, Etc." <br />as yet. He will contact the foundations listed in the "Issues Paper on Private, Nonprofit <br />Foundations for Parks and Recreation" prepared by Ramsey County's Policy Analysis Division. <br />He said corporate neighbors of the parks should also be identified and contacted. Mr. Mack <br />said that he, Mr. Holmberg and Ms. Yungers met with Ms. Carolyn Werlein, Deluxe <br />Corporation, and discussed funding of a play area at Island Lake. <br />Legislative Update <br />Mr. Mack gave an update on regional parks legislation. He distributed a listing of the <br />Senate and House authors for Operations and Maintenance Funding, and the bonding. bill for <br />the Regional Recreation Open Space CIP. He said legislation has also .been-introduced <br />requiring Ramsey County to sell Manitou Ridge Golf Course to the City of White Bear Lake. <br />Ramsey County opposes this bill. <br />Director's iteport <br />Mr. Mack mentioned that he received the 1993 operating budget materials which call for a 2% <br />reduction in the tax levy and 3.3% salary increases. The Ramsey County Finance Committee <br />will review the budget for Manitou Ridge Golf Course on March 24, 1992. It will then be <br />forwarded to the County Board for consideration. <br />Mr. Mack mentioned the Friends of-the Parks and Trails tree sale.- Orders are due by April <br />6, 1992. <br />Mr. Mack distributed copies of: <br />o Department's reformatted "News and Views"; <br />o Bicycle Minnesota newsletter; and <br />o Flyer announcing a Neighborhood Information Meeting regarding the .proposed Island <br />Lake County Park Development. <br />Mr. Mack mentioned a letter Commissioner Hal Norgard received from .the North St. <br />Paul/Maplewood/Oakdale School District requesting 10 acres of Battle Creek Regional Park <br />property. Commission members reiterated their position that there should be no net loss in <br />parkland.
