May 1, 1991 Park Board Minutes
Johnson asked if other communities have mission
statements.
Anderson said yes; he took some ideas from them.
Anderson said this is something we can use when we
start our process next month.
5
Anderson said he and Pat Tuma met with 10 teachers from
Pike Lake. Susan Ashley wanted to increase fitness in
the schools. They want to include a fitness trail at
the school and in the park.
C. Jones Lake
Anderson said the property is located in the southeast
portion of the City, behind Pletscher's Greenhouse.
There is a heavy marsh area on the east side. The land
is owned by a man named Nixon. He wants to get a tax
break by donating some of the property to the City.
Anderson said the donated property could be commercial
or if the City wanted to it could be used as an
informal nature area. Its use is up in the air. The
City Council has authorized an environmental study
before accepting the donation. The Park Board needs to
recommend to the City Council whether the property
should be accepted.
Eichers asked how much land there is.
Anderson said about 60 acres. He is donating about
half of what he owns.
Johnson said he would never refuse property.
Rose suggested using the property as a bird watch area.
Carlson asked what the property is zoned at.
Anderson thinks it is a combination of commercial and
industrial.
Eichers asked if the access was by the water tower.
Gunderman stated it was but it would not be sufficient
for commercial zoned.
Carlson said if you can't get to it or see it, why own
it.
Anderson said it is likely that the new owner will
develop a new access.
