May 1, 1991 Park Board Minutes
MOTION BY EICHERS, SECONDED BY KINZIE, TO
RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF A PARK IN THIS DEVELOPMENT
AND OF THIS SIZE AND CONFIGURATION.
Johnson said it has some uniqueness to it. The
only difference from the previous plan is that
there is a soccer field instead of a ball field.
Kalina inquired about the tennis courts.
Anderson said it was on the previous plan. We
could check with residents and see what the cost
would be also.
Johnson said we can always make changes.
MOTION CARRIED.
B. Program Review - Mission Statement
4
Anderson said he would like staff members Pat Tuma and
Kelly Schultz to attend the June meeting and give ideas
of costs of running these programs. Hopefully we will
have a decision from the legislature by then. We will
have parameters that will help us make adjustments.
Council and staff have taken the approach that we will
wait and see what happens with the legislature.
Gunderman said he would like to see a review factor so
that every so often we would go back and review
programs.
Kinzie thought "and maintain" could be added to the
mission statement after the word provide.
Carlson said our purpose is to meet the needs of
people. The intent is there but it is not written.
Perhaps it could say something about meeting both the
present and future needs.
Carlson said we go out of our way to ask the opinion of
the residents. Would like that stated. Not what we
think they need but what they want.
Kinzie suggested using the word "timely" to create the
image we are updating.
Anderson said or the word "appropriate."
Carlson asked if there was a mission statement in the
Comprehensive Plan.
Anderson said he couldn't find one.
