NEW BRIGHTON PARK BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />APRIL 3, 1991 <br />I. The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Chair Johnson. <br />II. Members present: Carlson, Eichers, Johnson, Kalina, Kinzie, <br /> Ocel, Olson, Rose, Seward, Council Rep. Gunderman <br /> Absent: None <br />III. Minutes of March 6, 1991 <br /> MOTION BY SEWARD, SECONDED BY CARLS ON, TO APPROVE THE MARCH 6, <br /> 1991 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br />IV. Correspondence <br />A. Long Lake Advisory Committ ee <br /> No meeting was held. <br />B. Council Report <br />Gunderman stated the council had discussed the applications for <br />the Park Board opening. There were three good applicants. <br />Want to have geographical area covered. <br />Some judges want to leave New Brighton stating it is unsafe. <br />Talking about a county wide Police Department. Talked about <br />parks and if there is a need to refocus? <br />There was discussion on the subject of the Herbst landfill <br />draining into Rice Creek. .Owner wants to divide and leave the <br />rest. Arly is not in favor of the split. It could become tax <br />delinquent and the city, state or federal governments become <br />responsible for about 11 acres. The area is filled with <br />debris. <br />Gunderman said perhaps the Citizens Study Committee and the <br />Park Board could look at services that were going to be <br />provided in the community center and see if we can still <br />provide these services. Perhaps we could build a courts <br />building and rent it to them and incorporate some of the <br />community center services in the new building. <br />Johnson said he didn't think the time is right until the <br />economy stabilizes. <br />Gunderman said he wasn't thinking of another levy. This would <br />be done without a levy. <br />Gunderman stated that on April 12 the Senior Citizen's Kitchen <br />Kut Ups Kitchen Band will be a t Snail Lake. <br />
