April 18, 1991 Park Board Minutes 3
Scott Johnson said they would keep it but wouldn't get
much use out of it. It's a nice open area and there is
value in the fact that the people who have homes on the
edge will not have homes behind them.
Gunderman commented that it will mean more grass mowing
for our Park Maintenance Dept.
Anderson said that it is his intention not to manicure
the slopes. We will let the grass grow. Mowing will be
done on either side of the path but probably no more.
Rose asked if the access goes out to Silver Lake Road.
Scott Johnson said it will.
Seward said it is very steep by the church.
Anderson said some benches could be put in. The
property is still valuable. There is a lot of area at
-Hansen Park that is not usable because of low land or
water but that is still important to the park. If the
pond were a stand alone piece of property, it would not
be valuable but it is a nice addition to the park.
Rose asked if most of the trees would be taken.
Scott Johnson said yes but would be working with the
City Forester to save some of the bigger trees and maybe
transplant them with the City's tree spade.
MOTION BY OLSON, SECONDED BY OCEL, TO RECOMMEND TO THE
COUNCIL THAT THE PARR DEDICATION PLAN BE ACCEPTED AS
INDICATED. MOTION CARRIED.
Gunderman stated that the City Council has concerns
about the outlot area.
B. Stormwater Retention - Creekview
Anderson commented that the area of concern is north of
the creek and East of Silver Lake Road. The City is
planning major development in the Sunnyside area.
Because of the work that is planned in the Sunnyside
area the amount of water run off needs to be slowed.
The first area the Engineers looked at was to put a
sediment pond at Sunny Square Park. Anderson is opposed
to this.
What has been suggested is that the water be allowed to
overflow to the creek area. Some water would be allowed
in the free skating at Sunny Square.
