September 5, 1990 Park Board Minutes 4 , Anderson said it would be good to have School District, Park Board, and LRHA representatives on the sub-committee. Van Hatten asked Kreidler if a sub-committee would benefit LRHA. Kreidler responded that having City and School District representation would give LRHA more credibility. Would like to see the School District involved. Johnson said he would be willing to work with LRHA on this but after the community center referendum on November 6. Kreidler said LRHA is willing to do the work and come back with a proposal. Van Hatten said he would like to know how the School District feels about this. Carlson stated that if the. Park Board can meet another recreation need, he is supportive of that. Anderson said he sees this as a positive step-for New Brighton. We have a donated facility with the assurance of it be self- . operating. Johnson said he thinks the. School District would have an interest in it. Anderson feels they would have a part in it but don't think they will do it. Think this is a great opportunity for New Brighton. Johnson and Carlson-volunteered to be on the sub-committee. MOTION CARRIED. B. Community Center Update Johnson stated they had just come from a Task Force Meeting. Trish Blomquist is chair of the Yes Vote committee. A calling committee will be formed. Would like the Park Board to be a part of the calling committee to see if people support the Community Center. Propose that the October 3 Park Board meeting would be spent manning phones for 3 hours. Each Park Board member should bring a friend or two to help with the calling. Johnson said he would like to: do the calling Mon.-Thurs. for 4 weeks. Johnson said the first .phase is to identify those in favor of the Community Center and then encourage them to vote. According to the survey taken 2/3 of the residents are in favor of a community center.
