September 5, 1990 Park Board Minutes 4 , <br />Anderson said it would be good to have School District, Park <br />Board, and LRHA representatives on the sub-committee. <br />Van Hatten asked Kreidler if a sub-committee would benefit <br />LRHA. <br />Kreidler responded that having City and School District <br />representation would give LRHA more credibility. Would like to <br />see the School District involved. <br />Johnson said he would be willing to work with LRHA on this but <br />after the community center referendum on November 6. <br />Kreidler said LRHA is willing to do the work and come back with <br />a proposal. <br />Van Hatten said he would like to know how the School District <br />feels about this. <br />Carlson stated that if the. Park Board can meet another <br />recreation need, he is supportive of that. <br />Anderson said he sees this as a positive step-for New Brighton. <br />We have a donated facility with the assurance of it be self- <br />. operating. <br />Johnson said he thinks the. School District would have an <br />interest in it. <br />Anderson feels they would have a part in it but don't think <br />they will do it. Think this is a great opportunity for New <br />Brighton. <br />Johnson and Carlson-volunteered to be on the sub-committee. <br />MOTION CARRIED. <br />B. Community Center Update <br />Johnson stated they had just come from a Task Force Meeting. <br />Trish Blomquist is chair of the Yes Vote committee. A calling <br />committee will be formed. Would like the Park Board to be a <br />part of the calling committee to see if people support the <br />Community Center. Propose that the October 3 Park Board <br />meeting would be spent manning phones for 3 hours. Each Park <br />Board member should bring a friend or two to help with the <br />calling. <br />Johnson said he would like to: do the calling Mon.-Thurs. for 4 <br />weeks. <br />Johnson said the first .phase is to identify those in favor of <br />the Community Center and then encourage them to vote. <br />According to the survey taken 2/3 of the residents are in favor <br />of a community center. <br />
