Body dimensions limited play on certain pieces of
equipment. Shorter children were unable to reach overhead hand
holds. Children with weak hands, and weak arms could not support
their body weight while climbing. Tight fitting clothes limited the
range of movement for some children. Traction on shoes was
important in order for children to climb up slippery surfaces. Age
was a significant factor in determining the types of play behavior the
children engaged in. The older children had better coordination and
therefore were able to participate in more complex activities.
