<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 25, 1986 <br /> <br />Council Business, continued <br /> <br />Martinson stated that although nothing could be done with the <br />garage entrance on Silver Lake Road, additional landscaping would <br />correct the residents' concern. <br /> <br />Williams asked if there would be any adverse impact on the amount <br />of parking on the site; Martinson did not believe so. <br /> <br />Briggs stated the only impact will be that the building will be <br />moved closer to the pond, into poor soil conditions which will <br />add cost to the project, which is why the building was not <br />initially placed in that location. <br /> <br />Williams suggested the developer might want to check with the <br />Rice Creek Watershed District about violating setbacks or <br />changing shorelines. <br /> <br />Martinson stated this is not in their protected list so it is <br />not covered by the DNR. <br /> <br />Reverend Satre noted that moving the east end further away from <br />the pond is a trade-off. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Schmidt, to TABLE THE RESOLUTION <br />ON VN-244 AND LP-192 UNTIL THE MARCH 11, 1986, COUNCIL MEETING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Benke updated council on his trip to Washington, D.C. with Sinda <br />and City Attorney John Drawz and their meeting with Senator Rudy <br />Boschwitz and General Walker. Boschwitz indicated to General <br />Walker that theArmy take our recommendation to settle seriously <br />and get back to the City at an early date. Walker indicated he <br />was involved with discussions with the EPA. Benke had indicated <br />he would like some kind of answer in two weeks when he retur55ns <br />to Washington for the National League of Cities Conference. <br /> <br />Schmidt suggested a follow-up letter from Benke to Attorney <br />General Humphrey appraising him of the visit. <br /> <br />Benke stated they also visited with Representative Vento and <br />updated him; Vento raised the concern that the Army isn't playing <br />a game during the budget process. <br /> <br />LeFevere suggested discussing the issue at Litigation Management <br />Committee meeting before authorizing the letter to Humphrey. <br /> <br />Schmidt announced the RCLLG will be having its meeting with the <br />legislators on March 19th at the Roseville Holiday Inn and en- <br />couraged all councilmembers to attend. <br /> <br />Page Nine <br /> <br />Announcements/Updates <br /> <br />Water Contamination <br />- Meeting in <br />WaShington Update <br /> <br />RCLLG <br />
